My interests in human eye have begun at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (WUST), where I studied Biomedical Engineering. After graduation I joined the Visual Optics Group and began my doctorate studies where I focused on a problem of non-invasive measurement and numerical assessment of human tear film.
Measurement of tear film surface quality is an important clinical task in the assessment of ocular surface health because of prevalence of dry eye syndrome in developed countries. I work on developing noninvasive methods that could provide quantitative assessment of tear film nature to diagnose people with dry eye syndrome, evaluate biocompatibility of contact lens materials with tear film and measure the effectiveness of artificial tears.
My research work appears mostly in journals dedicated to biomedical optics, ophthalmology and optometry. Apart from research activity I introduce optometry students to the world of contact lenses.
