Aim & motivation

Motivation

To investigate the tear film characteristic in dry eye disease (DED) & after cataract surgery (CS). DED and CS are the two most common problems in ophthalmology. They affecting millions of people.
High percentage of patients suffering post cataract surgery dry eye disease and there have been no studies in humans in which the DED onset is captured.

Aim

The project will provide scientific and practical knowledge, in particular: new knowledge on the link between post-blink TF dynamics with the tear lipidome that has never been studied before -> improve the DED subtype diagnosis identification of possible pathogenic factors important in the occurrence of DED -> improve understanding of the DED cause identification of markers of delayed tear film recovery after CS knowledge about the link between ocular condition prior the CS and after key knowledge for choosing the appropriate treatment, prevention methods .
