Project title: Post-cataract surgery dry eye as a platform for the development of reliable models of dry eye disease supporting its diagnosis and assessment

There will be two PhD students (for 4 years) and one post-doc (for 2 years) employed in the project SONATA BIS. The PhD candidate will join the PhD training at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (WUST) conducted at the interdisciplinary Doctoral School. Within the Doctoral School the training of essential skills and aptitude to prepare PhD students to conduct high-profile research at academic institutions, research centres, and industries will be provided. The PhD candidate will also join the tear film research team of bioengineers, biochemists, ophthalmologists and optometrists. The experimental part of the project will be conducted in the eye clinic. The PhD candidate will contribute to the development of a predictive model of post-cataract course of events focusing on tear film and ocular surface parameters and metrics. The position is full time.

Profile of candidates:

  • Master in Physics/Optics/Optometry, Master in Electrical/Electronic Engineering; master in Computer Sciences, Master in Biomedical Engineering or an equivalent Master degree
  • Computer programming skills
  • Willingness of work with the patient in the clinic
  • Professional skills such as teamwork, scientific creativity and independent work
  • Fluent spoken and written English or Polish
  • High motivation and willingness for hard work
