Research objectives
To achieve aim of the project the following research objectives and tasks are set:
- Improving technology for non-invasive tear film measurement:
- Enhancing the algorithmic capabilities of lateral sharing interferometry (interferometric pattern analysis and modelling, image processing, detection and estimation).
- Developing models for the dynamic behaviour of tear film quality on contact lenses for potential automatic classification of contact lens material and derivation of estimates for clinically important tear film parameters.
- Enhancing the optical capabilities of the lateral sharing interferometry.
- Enhancing the algorithmic capabilities of the high-speed videokeratoscopy for the analysis of tear film distribution over the lens in-vivo.
- Developing dynamic meniscometry based on dynamic OCT and conducting comparison of tear film volume with tear film kinetics on silicon-hydrogel lenses.
- Conducting an objective study in which the tear film kinetics will be tested on a group of siliconhydrogel contact lenses. In particular, the effect of contact lens wear on tear film surface quality and tear film volume will be studied in comparison to contact lens parameters.
- Conducting an ex vivo and in vivo material pilot study.
- Conducting a major study.
- Performing exhaustive statistical analysis of the data obtained in Task 2.
