Aim & motivation
Motivation
Despite constant improvements in contact lens materials, dryness and discomfort are common complains in contact lens wearers and can lead to lens intolerance and dry eye problems.
Aim
The aim of this project is to develop an effective, clinically utilizable, noninvasive technology for evaluating tear film quality and material parameters of contact lenses in vivo. New robust estimators of tear film kinetics will be developed and used for noninvasive assessment of tear film quality and kinetics making future diagnosis and monitoring of contact lens induced dry eye more reliable and providing the opportunity to assess the effect of contact lens materials on eye. Understanding the key in vivo characteristics of the contact lens materials and how they influence tear film behaviour will enable a practitioner to prescribe the best lens for the patients’ individual needs.
